Who are we?

 

The International Conference on Environmental Systems was started in 1971 with a focus on the dissemination of technical and scientific information on topics related to humans living in space and working in extreme environments.  The conference includes technical sessions, panel discussions, and published proceedings.  


Five committees aid in the coordination of the annual conference through the organization of technical sessions and the solicitation of technical papers for presentation and publication.

  • American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Environmental Systems Committee
  • ICES International Committee (INT)
  • American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Crew Systems Committee
  • American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Life Science and Systems (AIAA-LS&S) Technical Committee


Over the past 46 years, the conference has been organized by various professional societies including ASME, SAE, and AIAA.  In 2015, the International Conference on Environmental Systems, Inc was formed as a non-profit corporation in the state of Connecticut, TIN # 47-3124379, and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Code as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, with Public Charity Status 509(a)(2).  All contributions to the International Conference on Environmental Systems Inc, are deductible according to section 170 of the IRS code.


The International Conference on Environmental Systems, Inc corporate structure consists of a steering committee, which serve as the members, and a Board of Directors, elected by the members, which has the overall financial responsibility for the corporation.
